GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke freshman Michael Redlicki has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Redlicki earned a pair of singles wins and three doubles wins, while helping the Blue Devils to a 3-0 week, including victories over No. 14 Tennessee and No. 21 Michigan.
The Hawthorn Woods, Ill., native and partner Jason Tahir, the nation's No. 39 ranked duo by the ITA, won all three of their doubles matches, including an 8-5 win over Michigan's No. 30 pair of Evan King and Shaun Bernstein at No. 1 doubles. That win also clinched the doubles point for the Blue Devils and the early lead, en route to the 5-2 win over the Wolverines.
Against No. 14 Tennessee, the duo earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over The Vols tandem of Edward Jones and John Collins to help set the tone for the 4-1 victory.
In singles action, Redlicki picked up two wins at the No. 2 position over competition from Michigan and North Carolina Central. Redlicki took down Michigan's Alex Petrone, 6-2, 6-4, and capped the weekend with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win over N.C. Central's Jose Fabara.
ACC men's tennis action resumes on Friday, Feb. 15.
