No. 18 Seminoles Open ACC With Win
The No. 18 Florida State men's team opened ACC play with a 5-2 victory over Boston College (1-3, 0-2) tonight, February 10 in Milford, N.H. Senior Jean- Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) led the Seminoles (6-1, 1-0) with a win in doubles and singles. The Seminoles have now won their ACC opener in four consecutive years and marks the 13th time since joining the ACC in 1992.
Aubone (Miami, Fla.) and junior Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.) won the lone doubles match with an 8-5 win over Brian Garber and Billy Grokenberger on court two. The No. 31 duo of senior Vahid Mirzadeh (Wellington, Fla.) and freshman Connor Smith (Tampa, Fla.) fell to the higher ranked duo of No. 27 Erik Kreutzer and Thomas Nolan 8-3 on court one.
After losing the first singles match and falling behind 2-0, the Seminoles came back strong to win the rest of their singles matches. Winning first for Florida State was Smith as he won 6-4, 7-6 (5) over Alex Skinner on court four. No. 111 Mirzadeh competed against Kreutzer after falling to him in doubles. This time Mirzadeh walked off the court with a victory, a 6-1, 7-5 win on court three.
