Raleigh, N.C. - In what was a close match throughout, No. 46 NC State lost to No. 45 South Carolina 4-3 on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
While the Wolfpack lost the doubles point, there was an upset victory for the Pack at the No. 1 spot. The duo of Rob Lowe and Frideric Prandecki took down No. 27 Diego Cubas and Ivan Machado, 9-7. Dominic Hodgson and Dave Thomson fell to Ivan Cressoni and Pedro Campos, 8-4. Akash Gujarati and Jaime Pulgar lost a hard fought match to Johannes Pulsfort and Alexander Kostanov, 8-6.
The Pack pulled another upset in singles play, with Pulgar's 7-6 (6), 6-3 win over No. 48 Cubas. Hodgson kept the match close with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 victory against Machado. Fernando Banos got NC State's final point of the day by beating Cressoni, 6-2, 6-1.
