GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke sophomore forward Ryan Finley was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after helping his seventh-ranked Blue Devils battle reigning 2009 national champion Virginia to a 2-2 double overtime tie at Koskinen Stadium.
The sophomore native of Lumberton, N.J., registered the game-tying goal for Duke with just over two minutes remaining in regulation against visiting No. 2 Virginia, which had taken the lead with 4:40 left on the clock. Finley's goal marked his team-leading fourth on the season, while he tallied eight shots, three on goal, against the Cavaliers in 96 minutes of action.
After tallying four goals on 24 shots in just two weeks of 2010 ACC men's soccer action, Finley is leading the league in shots (24), points (8), goals (4), shots per game (8.0), points per game (2.67), and goals per game (1.33).
Duke returns to action today (Sept. 14), hosting George Washington at Koskinen Stadium at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils resume ACC action on Friday, Sept. 17 against long-time rival North Carolina on Fox Soccer Channel at 6:30 p.m.
