CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 16 seed Indiana pulled off its second consecutive upset to move on to the College Cup Friday night when the Hoosiers downed No. 9 seed UNC, 1-0, at Fetzer Field. The Hoosiers beat No. 1 seed Notre Dame to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Sophomore forward Eriq Zavaleta claimed the game winner in the 60th minute when he headed his own rebound past goalkeeper Scott Goodwin.
Indiana's Patrick Doody sent a ball into the box where freshman defender Jonathan Campbell was battling Zavaleta for position. Goodwin charged toward the cross before putting on the brakes and retreating to the net.
Zavaleta connected on a header and Goodwin was in position to get a hand on the ball to keep it out of the net. The rebound went directly to Zavaleta who headed the ball past Goodwin and into the back of the net.
