GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke sophomore attackman Jordan Wolf has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference today. Maryland sophomore goaltender Niko Amato was named the Defensive Player of the Week. It is the second weekly award for both players this season.
Wolf led all Duke scorers as the Blue Devils went 3-0 last week, notching eight goals and adding eight assists for 16 points. He netted two goals against No. 11 North Carolina, including the game-winner. He scored three goals and matched his career-high with seven points against Dartmouth to close out the week. The Wynnewood, Pa., native currently ranks second in the conference in points and assists and is third in goals.
Amato, a native of Philadelphia suburb Conshohocken, Pa., beat his hometown team by limiting No. 10 Villanova to a season-low five goals, two of which came on extra-man opportunities. He made seven saves in the second half, including four on point-blank shots from the crease as Amato and the Terrapin defense held the Wildcats well short of their 10.6 goal average.
