COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The attack unit of Grant Catalino, Travis Reed and Ryan Young combined for six goals and seven assists to lead the No. 5 University of Maryland men's lacrosse team to a 10-7 victory over Penn Monday afternoon at Ludwig Field.
Maryland moves to 5-0 on the season and has won five straight to open a season for the first time since 2004. It's the Terps first five-game winning streak of any kind since 2007 when Maryland took five in a row from March 10-24.
Reed and Catalino got the Terps, who never trailed in the game, off to a fast start just over two minutes into the game. Catalino slipped a pass to Reed, who buried a low-to-low shot from the right wing for the 1-0 Maryland lead.
The Terps' extra-man unit gave them a 2-0 advantage with 10:30 to play in the first when Catalino scored off of a feed from senior Will Yeatman. The Quakers' EMO unit got Penn on the board at the 9:07 mark on a goal by Al Kohart.
