Men's Golf

The reason I started playing golf was... The toughest course I ever played is... The most interesting place I've visited is... The lowest round I every shot is... What's in your bag?

Because my dad played it, and now I would like to use golf to reach out to people but in particular little kids. East Lake Golf Club because although the conditions are not tough (rough is not high, hardly any Out of Bounds, and few water hazards) the course finds its way to make scoring difficult everytime. My lowest score out there after 2 years of play is 72. Hawaii. I went to the island of Kona with the Georgia Tech Golf Team. It has 11 different climate zones including, rain forest, desert, and snow which I could see all in one day! It is possible to snowboard and surf in the ocean in the same day! It is a majestic place. 61 in an American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament. The par was 70, and I was only 1-under par after 7 holes and 8-under par for my next 12 holes. I had 29 on the back nine holes. That is the AJGA record for the lowest score anyone has shot that played the AJGA. (It was as of June 2007, and I think it still is.) My parents got me started at a very young age. My dad was a good player and took me out to the course; dodging hockey, basketball, and baseball practices whenever we could. I started playing tournaments and taking lessons when I was about nine years old and haven't put the clubs down since. TPC Sawgrass. The narrow fairways, thick rough, and quick greens makes it a difficult challenge...Add wind and 'Sunday pins' and TPC Sawgrass' claws come out. Copenhagen, Denmark. My older sister studied abroad there and I visited her when I was still in high school. The city is extremely unique and like nothing in America. Just walking the streets and being introduced to the culture, infrastructure, and scenery was awesome... although I definitely still prefer American food and was happy to have a McDonald's cheeseburger when I got back. A few six under rounds, most recently at the 2008 Player's Amateur at Belfair Golf Club in South Carolina. It was the second round and I finished three under in my last four holes. I hit the ball fairly well but my putting played a major role. The round put me in contention to win the tournament, ultimately finishing in tenth place. Woods: Taylor Made

My dad took me out to the course with him when I was 3 or 4 years old and I've been playing ever since. Southern Hills during the final round of the 2009 US Amatuer. It was tough because of a culmanation of many factors including the pressure of trying to win the US Amatuer. It was a 36 hole final and my 8th and 9th rounds of golf in seven consecutive days, the course was playing firm and fast by the last day of the tournament. Augusta National. There is so much tradition and history around there. I could play 54 holes a day out there. Just walking around the course is awesome. 60. It's a course record at my home course Greenwood Country Club, I made 12 birdies and 6 pars. I was in "The Zone," hitting every shot just like I wanted and made about every putt I looked at. Had a 20 foot eagle chip from the fringe on 18 for a 59, ran it by 10 feet (at least I gave it a chance) but made the comebacker for 60. Driver: Titleist 909D2 8.5 degree

I grew up on a golf course watching the players then I picked up a club and found out I was good at it. Hiwan Country Club (Evergreen, Colorado). The weather, the altitude and the greens [make it tough]. The designer of the greens is the same person who designed Augusta National's greens. Berlin Germany. There's incredible history there. 64 at Red Sky Golf Club in Colorado. I tied the course record. Driver: Ping Rapture

I lived on a golf course, had played a little my whole life, and all my friends played. One day I went out to play with some of them and just loved it. I'm a perfectionist and golf is something you can't perfect, so I got addicted very fast! I just continued to try to get better and was on the range and the course everyday as much as I could. Torrey Pines. I played it a couple months before they had to open there and the rough was up about 6-7 inches, and the fairways were cut to open widths. It was brutal. Costa Rica. I went there my senior year of high school for a mission trip and it was just so interesting to see a totally different culture. Also, we got to stay our last two nights at a 5 Star resort, so that was refreshing. 63 (par 70). It was at my home course. 10 birdies, a double and a bogey. Driver: Titlest D3
