ACC Gets Youth Football Involved at the Dr Pepper Championship Game #ACCfcg

Dec. 3, 2010

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference will celebrate its second annual Youth Football Celebration, an initiative which provides a localized peer support base for youth football players, coaches and parents on Saturday, December 4. The one-day event will be held on the Carolina Panthers practice field adjacent to Bank of America Stadium.

Partnering with USA Football and EA Sports, the ACC brings youth participants into an atmosphere where they can excel and learn through the use of positive role models. The event will serve as an academic endeavor, as well as an athletic one. Children will learn about the Atlantic Coast Conference and respective aspects of the league, such as geography and history through the classroom portion of the celebration.

The youth will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience about what it takes to play football in the ACC. They will 'hit the locker room' and ‘gear up’ with ACC items such as eye-black and wrist bands. The participants will then go through a series of stations, from a warm-up station to a USA Football Fundamentals Clinic, where they will be able to test their skills in events such as the 40-yard dash, field goal kick, quarterback sack and sled push.

Select area youth football programs have been invited to attend. Their tickets include entrance to the Youth Football Celebration, as well as admittance to watch the battle for the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship. Participants are encouraged to wear their team uniforms or favorite ACC school gear. The Youth Football Celebration will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. (ET). The sixth annual 2010 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be played December 4, at 7:45 p.m. (ET) at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.
