Charlotte's Duke Energy Center to Feature ACC-themed Light Show

Charlotte, N.C. (theACC.com) - The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced that as part of a 48-hour-long celebration of the 2011 ACC Dr Pepper Football Championship Game in Charlotte, Wells Fargo & Co. has agreed to light the Duke Energy Center in Uptown Charlotte with a variety of ACC- themed light shows throughout the weekend. On the evening of Friday, Dec. 2, the building will feature an ACC light show to coincide with the league’s annual ACC Night of Legends event, which showcases football greats from all 12 schools in addition to honoring the 2011 ACC football postseason award winners.

As part of an initiative to honor America, the Duke Energy Center will be lit in red, white and blue during the national anthem of the 2011 ACC Dr Pepper Football Championship game, which will take place immediately before the 8 p.m. kick-off on Saturday, Dec. 3.

During the game, the building will be lit in the ACC school colors of the participating teams when they score. In conclusion of the visual festivities, a special orange- themed light show will be exhibited to honor the winner whose final destination of the season will be the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl on January 4 if not selected for the BCS National Championship Game.
