NC State Hosts Cincinnati in Thursday Night ESPN Contest; Duke Hosts No. 1 Alabama Clemson, Maryland and Wake Forest Face Ranked Teams on the Road North Carolina and Georgia Tech Meet in Coastal Showdown; FSU, Virginia Tech Look to Rebound At Home

Off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2002, NC State hosts Cincinnati this Thursday at Carter-Finley Stadium in a game which will be nationally televised by ESPN (7:30 pm)... The meeting of the Wolfpack and Bearcats is the first for the two schools in football... Coach Tom O’Brien’s team features QB Russell Wilson and an improved defense led by LB Audie Cole... The game is the first of four Thursday Night ESPN appearances by the ACC and the first of two by the Wolfpack this year... On Saturday, the Duke Blue Devils, led by QB Sean Renfree and WR Conner Vernon, host No. 1-ranked Alabama at Wallace Wade Stadium in a game which will be regionally televised by ABC (3:30 pm)... Renfree became only the third quarterback in ACC history to throw for 350 or more yards in the first two starts of his career last week against Wake Forest and leads the ACC in passing efficiency, while Vernon ranks 2nd nationally in pass reception yardage per game...Just down the road from Durham in Chapel Hill, North Carolina will host Georgia Tech in a battle of Coastal Division rivals... The game will be regionally televised by the ACC Network (12 noon) and will feature quarterbacks of contrasting styles in UNC’s T.J. Yates, a pocket passer who threw for 412 yards in UNC’s season-opening loss to LSU, and Tech’s Joshua Nesbitt, who leads the ACC and ranks 4th nationally with 5 rushing touchdowns... Three ACC teams face stiff tests on the road, beginning with Maryland’s game against 21st-ranked West Virginia (ESPNU, 12 noon) at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown... Coach Ralph Friedgen’s Terrapins, 2-0 for the first time since 2001, feature an improved defense led by DT Joe Vellano, S Kenny Tate and LB Alex Wujciak...Clemson then travels to 16th-ranked Auburn for a nationally televised (ESPN, 7 pm) game at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium...Coach Dabo Swinney’s Tigers will be led by QB Kyle Parker and its tailback tandem of Andre Ellington and Jamie Harper... Wake Forest, also 2-0, travels to No. 19 Stanford for a nationally-televised (ESPN2, 11:15 pm) contest at Stanford Stadium... Coach Jim Grobe’s team has scored 107 points in two games with QBs Ted Stachitas and Tanner Price at the helm but faces the nation’s 7th-ranked defense in the Cardinal... Florida State hosts BYU this Saturday in a 3:30 pm game (ESPNU) at Doak Campbell Stadium...Coach Jimbo Fisher’s squad is led by QB Christian Ponder and CB Greg Reid, who ranks 5th nationally in punt returns... Virginia Tech completes the weekend, hosting East Carolina Saturday at Lane Stadium in an 1:30 pm game which will be video streamed by The Hokies, led by QB Tyrod Taylor and TB Ryan Williams, are looking to bounce back from their first 0-2 start since 1995, but are facing a 2-0 ECU team which has totaled 100 points in its first two games.
