ACC In Top 10 For Six Straight Drafts

If an ACC player is selected among the top 10 players in this year's NFL Draft, the ACC will be the only conference in the nation to have had a Top 10 selection in each of the past six years.

In 2006 the ACC set an NFL Draft record for a collegiate conference with 12 first round draft selections and 51 overall selections.

Since 2001, Current ACC Schools Lead In Top 10 NFL Draft Selections
Over the last 10 years, current ACC schools have produced more Top 10 selections in the first round of the NFL Draft than any other conference. ACC schools had 25 of their players selected among the Top 10 picks, followed by the SEC (24).

Since 2001, Current ACC Schools Lead All In Top 20 NFL Draft Selections
Over the past 10 seasons, current ACC schools have produced more Top 20 selections in the first round of the NFL Draft than any other conference. Since 2001, current ACC schools have had no fewer than 49 of their players chosen among the Top 20 draft selections in the NFL Draft. The SEC is second (43) followed by the Big 12 and the Big Ten with 31 each.

Miami Has Had A Player Chosen In 36 Straight NFL Drafts
Miami has had at least one player chosen in every NFL Draft since 1974, a string of 36 consecutive years. Virginia and Florida State have each had a player chosen in every NFL Draft since 1983, a span of 27 straight years.

Three of the Last Four First Wide Receivers in the NFL Draft Have Been ACC Standouts
In three of the last four years, an ACC standout has been the first wide receiver taken in the NFL Draft. Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson was the first wide reciver chosen in the 2007 Draft, being tabbed 2nd overall by the Detroit Lions. In the 2009 Draft, Maryland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey was chosen 7th overall and the first wide receiver by the Oakland Raiders. Finally, last year, Georgia Tech's Demaryius Thomas was the initial wide receiver chosen in the 2010 NFL Draft, being selectedf 22nd overall by the Denver Broncos.

Maryland Holds Record For Most Single-Season NFL Draftees
In 1975 Maryland had 11 players chosen in the NFL Draft, still the most of any team which was a member of the ACC at the time. Led by Outland Trophy winner Randy White, 11 Terrapins were selected in a 17-round NFL Draft. Maryland actually had 12 players taken in the 1952 draft, but the ACC had not yet been formed. Miami also had a dozen chosen in 1988, some 16 years before joining the Conference.

Florida State, Miami Had Most Single-Season First Round Draftees
Florida State holds the ACC record for most first-round draft picks in a single season, having had four players selected in both 1997 and 2006. Miami, though, had six first-round selections in the 2004 NFL Draft, the year before the Hurricanes entered the Atlantic Coast Conference.
