GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State's Bernard James and Virginia Tech's Dorenzo Hudson shared ACC Player of the Week honors while Wake Forest's Chase Fischer was tabbed as the ACC Rookie of the Week following their outstanding performances this past week. James averaged double-doubles with 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, leading 25th-ranked Florida State to a 3-0 record on the week with wins over Central Florida, Stetson and South Alabama. The Savannah, Ga., senior also had eight blocked shots and shot an impressive 90 percent from the floor (18-of-20) in the three games.
Hudson averaged 24.5 points and 2.5 assists in wins over Monmouth and Florida International. In Tuesday's 78-63 win over FIU, the Charlotte, N.C., senior was 8-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line en route to scoring an ACC season-high 31 points in a victory that advanced the Hokies to the semifinals of the preseason NIT against Syracuse on Wednesday night.
Fischer averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 57 percent from the field in Wake Forest's two games last week. In the Demon Deacons' 81-72 win over Georgia Southern on Wednesday, the Ripley, W. Va., native scored 13 points and added three assists, three steals and a block in 32 minutes off the bench. In Sunday's 93-79 defeat of N.C. Central, Fischer had 10 points, five assists with two steals.
