Seven ACC teams to take part in postseason play ... Duke, North Carolina, Florida State and Clemson earn NCAA bids ... NIT selects Boston College, Virginia Tech and Miami ... Duke captures its 10th ACC title in 13 years - and 19th overall - with 75-58 win over North Carolina in the finals of the 58th annual ACC Tournament ... Duke’s Nolan Smith, the ACC Player of the Year, leads the league in scoring (21.3) and is second in assists (5.2) ... Maryland’s Jordan Williams leads the ACC in rebounding (11.8) - the highest per game average since Wake Forest’s Tim Duncan averaged 14.7 rebounds per game in 1997 ... North Carolina freshman Kendall Marshall leads the ACC in assists (5.8) ... Miami’s Malcolm Grant leads the ACC in free throw percentage (.862) and 3-point field goal percentage (.432) ... Florida State leads the nation in field goal percentage defense (.364) ... Virginia Tech’s Jeff Allen leads all active ACC players in career rebounds (1,098), steals (229) and double-doubles (44) ... Clemson’s Demontez Stitt has scored 10 or more points in each of his last 10 games and has raised his scoring average from 13.5 points per game to 14.7.

By the Numbers
1 - Virginia Tech’s Jeff Allen is one blocked shot shy of becoming the first player in ACC history to have career totals of 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds, 200 steals and 150 blocked shots.
1 – The ACC, with a 347-175 mark, is the winningest conference in NCAA Tournament history (.665).
2 – Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski is two wins shy of becoming only the second coach in NCAA Division I history to reach the 800-win plateau in his career.
4- North Carolina freshman Harrison Barnes has led the Tar Heels in scoring in each of his last four games and is averaging 17.3 points per game in 19 contests against ACC opponents.
4 – Clemson is making a school-record fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
4 – Duke’s Kyle Singler is four rebounds shy of becoming only the 10th player in ACC history to have 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career.
5 – Over the past 10 years (2001-2010), the ACC has won as many National Championships (5) as all of the other conferences combined.
14 – Duke’s Nolan Smith leads the ACC in scoring (21.3) and is the 14th Blue Devil to be named ACC Player of the Year … Smith is five assists shy of 400 for his career.
20 – Miami’s Malcolm Grant has made at least one 3-point field goal in an ACC-best 20 straight games.
29 - Reggie Jackson has scored in double-fi gures in 29 of Boston College’s 32 games this season and is third in the ACC in scoring (18.4) and assists (4.5).

TEAM NOTES

Boston College
Boston College (20-12) has accepted a bid to play in the 2011 National Invitation Tournament and will open play at McNeese State (21-10) on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in St. Charles, La. ... the game will be televised by ESPNU ... BC, which joined fellow ACC member Virginia Tech in landing a No. 1 seed in the NIT field, will be making the program’s 11th appearance in the tournament ... BC has a 16-11 all-time record in the NIT ...the Eagles last participated in the NIT in 2003, defeating Fairfield (in Bridgeport, Conn.) in the opening round, before losing to Temple (in the Palestra) in the first round ... senior Joe Trapani has averaged 19.7 points in his last three games.

Clemson
Clemson (21-11) will face UAB (22-8) in Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday at 9:10 p.m. in one of the First Four Games of the 2011 NCAA Tournament ... the game will be televised by tru TV ... this is the fourth straight year Clemson has reached the NCAA tournament ... the Tigers will be making their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance overall, all since 1980 ... the teams have two common opponents in Duke and East Carolina ... both lost at Duke during the regular season ... the Tigers defeated East Carolina in a meeting at Clemson ... UAB defeated the Pirates twice in the regular season, but lost to ECU in the Conference USA Tournament.

Duke
Fresh off a victory in the ACC Tournament championship game, the Blue Devils were seeded No. 1 in the West Region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament ... Duke (30-4) will play its opening game in Charlotte, N.C., against Hampton (24-8) on Friday at 3:10 p.m. ... the game will be televised on truTV ... Duke won its ACC-leading 19th ACC Championship with Sunday’s 75-58 win over North Carolina in the finals and has now won three straight and 10 of the last 13 ACC titles ... Nolan Smith became the 18th Duke player to be named ACC Tournament MVP, which ties Duke with North Carolina for the most tournament MVP honors,

Florida State
FSU (22-10) earned a No. 10 seed in the Southwest Region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament and will play No. 7 seed Texas A&M (24-8) in Chicago’s United Center on Friday in the second round ... this marks the school-record tying third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for FSU, which has been invited to play in the postseason for the sixth straight season and seventh time in the nine-year tenure of head coach Leonard Hamilton ... FSU earned two wins over ranked teams during the season - a win at home over No. 1 Duke (Jan. 12, 66-61) and against No. 15 Baylor (Dec. 25, 68-61) - on its way to a third consecutive 20 win season under Hamilton.

Georgia Tech
Coach Paul Hewitt has been relieved of his duties after 11 seasons at Georgia Tech ... the announcement came March 12 from Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich, who said that a national search for Hewitt’s replacement would begin immediately ... Tech (13-18, 5-11) concluded the 2010-11 season on March 10 with a 59-43 loss to Virginia Tech in the opening round of the ACC Tournament ..junior guard Iman Shumpert became only the seventh player in ACC history to lead his team in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (5.9 rpg) and assists (108) in the same season.

Maryland
The Terrapins finished with a 19-14 overall record and tied for seventh in the ACC ... Maryland has won at least 19 games in 15 consecutive seasons ... with 18 points and 16 rebounds in Maryland’s loss to Duke in quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, sophomore Jordan Williams posted his school-record 24th double-double of the season ... Williams eclipsed the old record of 22 posted by Len Elmore in 1973-74 ... Williams leads the conference in rebounding (11.8 rpg) and could become the first Terrapin to lead the ACC in that category since Joe Smith topped the chart with 10.7 rpg in 1993-94.

Miami
Second-seeded Miami (19-14)will play host to seventh-seeded Florida Atlantic (21-10) in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ... ESPN3 will stream the game online ... the Hurricanes own a 19-1 all-time series lead over the Owls (21-10) ... Miami is making its fifth postseason appearance in seven seasons under coach Frank Haith ... it marks the 16th postseason appearance for the Hurricanes and the 10th NIT appearance in program history ... Miami advanced to the second round in the 2009 NIT, knocking off Providence on the road before falling at Florida.

North Carolina
UNC (26-7) is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament East Regional and will open play on Friday at 7:15 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C., against No. 15 seed Long Island University (27-5) ... Harrison Barnes averaged 24.7 points in three ACC Tournament games, including a tournament freshman-record 40 points in Saturday’s overtime win over Clemson in the semifinals ... John Henson averaged 14 rebounds in three ACC tourney games ... the Tar Heels will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the 34th time in the last 37 seasons and will be making their ninth straight appearance in postseason play.

NC State
The Wolfpack finished its season with a 15-16 record after falling to Maryland in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on March 10 ... senior Tracy Smith scored in double figures in 18 of the 21 games in which he played this season ... that included a 14-point effort off the bench against the Terps in the first round of ACC Tournament ... sophomore Scott Wood finished his season tied for second in 3-point field goal accuracy among ACC players (.419 percent) ... Wood ranked fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.3) ... freshman C.J. Leslie led the team in rebounding, pulling down 7.2 per game.

Virginia
Virginia finished the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 16-15 and finished tied for seventh in the ACC during the regular season with a record of 7-9 .. the Cavaliers’ seven ACC wins were their most since winning 11 and tying for first place in 2006-07 ... this marked Virginia’s first winning season since 2007-8 ... with 14 points in the March 10 overtime loss to Miami in the first round of the ACC Tournament, senior Mustapha Farrakhan scored in double figures for the 24th time this season and the 38th time in his career ... Farrakhan ended the season with seven straight double-figure scoring games, a career-long streak.

Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech (21-11) will host Bethune-Cookman (21-12) on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on ESPNU in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament ... Virginia Tech is one of four number-one seeds in the NIT this season ... This is the Hokies’ fourth consecutive trip to the NIT and their third top seed in the last four years ... Tech advanced to the third round last season ... the Hokies are 23-9 all-time in the NIT and won the 1973 and 1995 championships ... Malcolm Delaney has led Virginia Tech in scoring in each of its last four games, including 19 points in Saturday’s ACC Tournament loss to Duke.

Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons (8-24, 1-15) ended the 2010-11 season with a loss to Boston College in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on March 10 ... Travis McKie posted his seventh career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds against BC... Nikita Mescheriakov notched a career-high 13 points ... with losses to the Eagles on the final day of the regular season and in the ACC Tournament, Wake Forest lost to the same opponent in back-to-back games for the first time since 1983, when N.C. State beat the Deacons twice in a row shortly before winning the national championship.
