GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest’s C.J. Harris has been selected ACC Player of the Week, while Duke’s Rasheed Sulaimon has been named the conference’s Rookie of the Week.
Harris scored 23 points to lead Wake Forest to an 80-65 upset of No. 2-ranked Miami on Saturday in the Demon Deacons’ only action last week. The Winston-Salem, N.C., senior was 7-of-13 from the field, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range. Harris hit all five of his 3-pointers in the first half, scoring 15 points in the period, as Wake Forest built a 19-point advantage. His fast break dunk with 11:37 left in the game sparked a decisive 12-0 Deacon run that turned a five-point lead into 17.
Harris has scored in double figures 10 games in a row and ranks seventh in the ACC in scoring (15.1); Harris also leads the league in free throw percentage (.848)
Sulaimon averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in leading Duke to ACC wins over Virginia Tech and Boston College. On the week, the freshman guard from Houston, Texas, was 17-of-26 (.654) from the field, including 6-of-9 (.667) from 3-point range. Sulaimon opened the week with 17 points, five rebounds and two steals in a road win over the Hokies.
On Sunday, Sulaimon scored a career-high 27 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists. He went 10-of-15 from the field including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
