GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke senior Ryan Kelly has been named the ACC Player of the Week and Boston College’s Joe Rahon has been selected the conference’s Rookie of the Week following their performances this past week.
Kelly averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from 3-point range as top-ranked Duke posted wins over Davidson and Wake Forest. The Raleigh, N.C., native scored 18 points and added seven rebounds in a 67-50 win over Davidson in Charlotte on Wednesday.
In Saturday’s 80-62 win against the Demon Deacons, Kelly knocked down a career-best five 3-point field goals and was 6-of-9 from the field in a 22-point effort. He also had four rebounds, one assist and one block in just 18 minutes of play.
Rahon averaged 21.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two games last week. The San Diego, Calif., freshman opened the week with a 24-point, five-assist performance in a 79-58 win over Dartmouth Monday. He was 7-for-8 from the floor, including 6-for-6 from beyond the arc as the Eagles ran their winning streak to five in a row with the victory.
In Saturday’s 78-73 loss to 23rd-ranked NC State, Rahon had 18 points, four rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes of play. Rahon currently ranks second among freshman and seventh overall in the ACC in assists per game (4.1).
