Tigers Roll Past Savannah State, 61-40

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Jerai Grant came off the bench to score 15 points as Clemson defeated Savannah State 61-40 on Friday night.

Clemson (6-4) held Savannah State to 11 field goals and 22.9 percent shooting from the field. Grant made 5 of 6 shots from close range.

Clemson's man-to-man defense frustrated Savannah State, which fell behind 26-5 after nearly 15 minutes. Clemson also held Savannah State to five points in the first nine minutes of the second half. Clemson's lead grew to 54-25 on Cory Stanton's 3-point shot with 11:15 left.

Tanner Smith scored 11 points and Andre Young added 10 for Clemson. Led by Milton Jennings' 10 rebounds, Clemson held a 44-32 edge on the boards.

Cavaliers Return to Action with 63-48 win Over Oregon

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Freshman K.T. Harrell scored 20 points and Sammy Zeglinski hit two big 3-pointers Friday night, lifting Virginia to a 63-48 victory against Oregon.

Mustapha Farrakhan added 17 points as the Cavaliers (7-3) won their fourth straight despite being without scoring and rebounding leader Mike Scott. The senior low post player had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Thursday to have pieces of cartilage removed.

Oregon (7-4) had its three-game winning streak snapped. The Ducks got 16 points from Joevan Catron but little from anyone else as they shot just 34.5 percent overall (19 of 55).
