Freshman Travis McKie recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Wake Forest to a 69-67 over UNC Greensboro Wednesday evening at the Joel Coliseum.
McKie grabbed seven rebounds in each half and was just one board away from tying his career-high. He was also very efficient on offense, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line.
Wake Forest also got a spark off the bench from freshman J.T. Terrell and sophomore Ari Stewart who scored 14 points and 12 points, respectively. The Deacs had 28 total points off the bench compared to just 11 for the Spartans.
The Demon Deacons also had a solid rebounding edge over the Spartans, winning the battle of the boards 41-28.
Chris Singleton scored 17 points and Deividas Dulkys added 14 as Florida State won its third straight game, a 97-63 victory over Stetson on Wednesday night.
Terrance Shannon had 13 points for Florida State (8-2), which cruised to its largest margin of victory this season and its highest first-half point total (49).
After falling behind in the opening minutes, the Seminoles used a 28-2 run to take a 29-8 lead with 9:05 left in the first half. Stetson went nearly 10 minutes without making a shot from the floor.
Florida State shot 16 of 28 (57.1 percent) from the floor while taking a 49-27 lead at halftime.
