Logo Unveiled for 2012 ACC Baseball Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday unveiled the logo for the 2012 ACC Baseball Championship, slated for May 23-27 at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, N.C.

The five-day tournament will again feature the ACC's top eight teams in a round-robin pool play format. Three games are scheduled daily Wednesday, May 23 through Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The championship game is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.

Full-tournament passes are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Nov. 1. Single-game ticket sales will begin on May 1 of 2012. Please check theACC.com for more detailed information as it becomes available.

The 2012 season will mark the second time the ACC Baseball Championship has been held in Greensboro. The 2010 tournament at NewBridge Bank Park attracted 50,266 fans, the fifth-highest total attendance in the 38-year history of the event. The crowd of 6,274 that watched the Sunday title game between Florida State and NC State marked the highest title-game attendance since the Championship went to its current format.

The ACC has placed 14 teams in the College World Series since 2006, including multiple teams each of the last four seasons. The 2011 season saw two conference teams - Virginia and North Carolina - reach the CWS and an additional five teams earn NCAA Tournament berths. Five ACC teams placed among the final top 10 NCAA RPI rankings (North Carolina at No. 1, Virginia at No. 3, Florida State at No. 6, Clemson at No. 8 and Georgia Tech at No. 10).
