GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – College World Series participant Florida State leads all schools with nine student-athletes selected to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Baseball Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Seven Clemson student-athletes are included on the team, which features 11 players that earned All-ACC honors, five players that were named to at least one All-America team and four Freshman All-Americans.

Heading up the team is Florida State outfielder James Ramsey, the 2012 ACC Player of the Year, ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, 2012 Capital One Baseball Academic Player of the Year and Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner. In addition to Ramsey, the team features two other Capital One Academic All-Americans in Clemson senior Phil Pohl and Georgia Tech junior Brandon Thomas.

Ramsey, Pohl and Thomas were also Capital One Academic All-District selections in 2012, along with six other All-ACC Academic Team honorees – Duke’s Will Piwnica-Worms, Florida State’s Peter Miller, Maryland’s Brett Harman and Kyle Convissar, NC State’s Vance Williams and Wake Forest’s Evan Stephens.

Twenty-one student-athletes named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team earned spots on the squad on at least one previous occasion. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
