The ACC has placed multiple teams in the College World Series for the third straight year and the fourth time in five years ... Florida State (47-18) will open this year’s CWS against Texas Christian(51-12) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern time at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium ...Clemson (43-23) opens play against top-seeded Arizona State (52-8) on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET ... Clemson is set for its 12th CWS and first since 2006 after defeating Alabama in the decisive Super Regional third game on June 14 ... Richie Shaffer’s two home runs provided a cushion for the Tigers, who withstood a ninth-inning rally by the Crimson Tide ... One day earlier, Sherman Johnson’s three-run double in the eighth inning delivered key insurance runs for Florida State in a 7-6, Super Regional series-clinching win over Vanderbilt ... The Seminoles earned their 20th overall trip to the College World Series and their second in three years.

Clemson
The Tigers are College World Series bound for the 12th time in program history ... The 2010 season marks Clemson’s 35th appearance in the NCAA Tournament dating back to the 1947 season ... This year’s NCAA appearance is Clemson’s 23rd in 24 years, and the Super Regional appearance was the Tigers’ ninth in 12 years under the current format ... 34 of the Tigers’ 63 games this season have been against fellow NCAA Tournament teams ... Outfi elder Kyle Parker is the 10th Tiger to be taken in the fi rst round of the Major League Baseball Draft during Jack Leggett’s 17-year tenure as head coach ... Shortstop Brad Miller carries a 17-game hitting steak into the CWS.

Florida State
The 2010 College World Series will be the 20th for FSU ... Overall, the ACC champion Seminoles are in the NCAA Tournament for the 48th year, second nationally only to Texas’ 54 appearances ... Florida State has posted 63 consecutive winning seasons dating back to 1948 ... . FSU is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 33rd consecutive year, second only to Miami’s current and all-time record 38 straight ... The Seminoles are 162-107 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including a 25-38 mark in the CWS ... Freshman Jayce Boyd hit .545 during Regional & Super Regional play, recording 12 hits with two doubles, two home runs and four RBIs.

4 - ACC student-athletes selected in the first round of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft (North Carolina pitcher Matt Harvey, Georgia Tech pitcher Deck McGuire, Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal and Clemson outfielder Kyle Parker). The ACC has seen at least one player taken in the first round of the last 19 MLB June drafts and multiple first-round selections nine of the last 10 years.

4 - ACC teams that reached the NCAA Super Regionals, accounting for a quarter of the 16-team field.

5 - Number of ACC Championships won by Florida State, all under the watch of veteran coach Mike Martin.

6 - Six ACC teams have hit the 40-win mark this season. Eight of the league’s 12 teams won at least 38 games.

8 - ACC teams selected for this year’s NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, the league’s most ever.

12- Total number of ACC teams that have reached the College World Series over the past five seasons, including a record four in 2006 and three in 2008.

20 - ACC teams have won 20 or more NCAA Tournament games in four of the past five years and six times overall. The ACC owns 23 wins thus far in the 2010 postseason.

26 - In 2008 and 2009, the ACC averaged 26 wins in the NCAA Tournament. League teams were a combined 52-31 (.626) in post-season play.

64 - The overall total of 64 ACC student-athletes selected in this year’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft were a league record, bettering the old mark of 63 set in 2007.
