No. 1 national seed Virginia, No. 3 seed North Carolina and No. 5 seed Florida State will be host teams for this weekend’s NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Super Regionals, the NCAA announced early Tuesday morning.
The Super Regionals – eight best-of-three series at campus sites – will determine the eight teams that advance to the 2011 College World Series, set for June 18-29 at Omaha, Neb.
North Carolina (48-14) will open play against visiting Stanford (35-20) on Friday at 3 p.m. Game 2 is set for Saturday at 3 p.m., and a third game would be played Sunday at 4 p.m. if necessary.
Virginia (52-9) gets into action Saturday at 1 p.m. against UC-Irvine (42-16). Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. The third game, if necessary, will be played on Monday at a time to be determined (1 p.m., 4 p.m. or 7 p.m.)
Florida State (45-17) is awaiting the winner of today’s regional game between Texas A&M (45-19) and Arizona (40-20). The first Super Regional game in Tallahassee is set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Game 2 is slated for 4 p.m. on Sunday. The third game, if necessary, will be played on Monday at a time to be determined (1 p.m., 4 p.m. or 7 p.m.)

This marks the fourth straight year, and the sixth time in seven years, that the ACC has placed at least three teams among the final 16 of NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
