ACC Continues Tradition of Honoring the Nation's Military Heroes at #ACCBase

Greensboro, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference is honoring America by recognizing the men and women of the Armed Forces during the 2013 ACC Baseball Championship Game on Sunday, May 26, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.

Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch will be Tim Devine, a local veteran. Devine served in the army as an artillery officer on a 15-month tour in Iraq. He is a graduate of West Point and received his graduate degree from the University of North Carolina. He currently works as an environmental engineer and volunteers at the Durham VA Hospital.

In addition to the ceremonial first pitch, the Durham Fire Department and Durham County EMS will present today's colors. Danielle Johnson will sing the National Anthem pregame and God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch.

Throughout the game, the ACC umpires will also honor the men and women of our Armed Forces. The base umpires will wear hats that represent the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and the home plate umpire will wear an American Flag patch on his left sleeve as well as a flag pin on his hat.
