Five ACC series highlight the next-to-last weekend of the regular season as the battle for the eight spots in the upcoming ACC Championship (May 23 through 27 at Greensboro, N.C.) continues ... Florida State, NC State and North Carolina have already clinched spots in the tournament field, but none of the ACC's 12 teams are yet mathematically eliminated ... Friday series openers include No. 13 NC State at Virginia Tech, No. 7 North Carolina at Duke, Georgia Tech at No. 21 Virginia and Wake Forest at No. 20 Miami ... Game 2 of the Georgia Tech-Virginia series will be broadcast live Saturday afternoon on the ACC's Regional Sports Networks ... Clemson's three-game home series against top-ranked Florida State begins on Saturday ... All three games will be available on ESPN3, and Monday night's finale will be televised nationally by ESPNU ... ESPNU will also broadcast the opening game of the Wake Forest-Miami series on Friday night.


2 - Georgia Tech joins Florida as one of only two schools to place two student-athletes -- Jake Davies and Zane Evans -- on the initial watch list for the 2012 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

4 - Hits allowed in 9.1 combined innings by ACC Pitcher of the Week Hobbs Johnson of North Carolina in a 2-0 win over Winthrop and a 4-1 victory over Boston College.

7 - RBI by ACC Player of the Week Justin Gonzalez of Florida State in the first two games of the Seminoles' league series against Maryland, including a grand slam in Sunday's 9-2 victory.

10 - ACC student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic All-District Baseball Teams (Clemson's Phil Pohl, Duke's Will Piwnica-Worms, Florida State's Peter Miller and James Ramsey, Georgia Tech's Sam Dove and Brandon Thomas, Maryland's Brett Harman and Kyle Convissar, NC State's Vance Williams and Wake Forest's Evan Stephens)

10 - NC State's current 10-game winning streak is its longest since 2004.

17 - Virginia Tech has won 17 straight games vs. nonconference teams.

22 - Consecutive games in which Clemson's Thomas Brittle has hit safely, the longest active streak in the ACC at present.

30 - Eight ACC teams have now won at least 30 games, and two others need three wins or less to reach that plateau. Top-ranked Florida State has reached the 40-win mark for the 35th straight year.

273 - Junior pitcher Marcus Stroman's 273 career strikeouts put him at sixth on Duke's all-time strikeouts list.
