Boston College
The Eagles, who have won at least 30 games each of the past two seasons, open the 2011 season under first-year coach Mike Gambino with 19 consecutive games away from home ... Boston College does not play its home opener until March 25, when it plays host to Virginia Tech in the first of a three-game ACC weekend series ... BC will travel nearly 10,240 miles before playing its first home game ... Gambino, a BC graduate and former Eagles assistant, takes over as head coach following a four-year stint at Virginia Tech, where he was the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator under former Eagles head coach Pete Hughes.

Clemson
The Tigers, who made their 12th College World Series appearance in 2010, enter the 2011 season ranked as high as fourth nationally (by Collegiate Baseball) and are a consensus top-10 in every major preseason poll .. Clemson, led by preseason All-Americans Jeff Schaus, Brad Miller and John Hinson, were also picked as the preseason ACC favorite in a vote by the league's 12 head coaches ... Schaus' 87 RBIs in 2010 led the ACC, tied for second-most in Clemson history and ranked fourth in the nation ... head coach Jack Leggett enters his 18th season with the Tigers needing 31 victories to hit the 800-win plateau at Clemson and is 54 wins shy of 1,200 for his career.

Duke
Duke enters the 2011 season led by infielder/pitcher Marcus Stroman, who was chosen the 2010 ACC Freshman of the Year in voting among the league's head coaches ... Stroman led Duke with six wins on the mound last season while also leading the team with 144 assists while doubling as a second baseman ... the Medford, N.Y., native hit .295 with 11 stolen bases ... with a 145-134-1 record in his first five years, Duke coach Sean McNally has led his alma mater to four consecutive winning seasons ... Duke has posted fielding percentages of .975 or better in each of the past three seasons, including 2008, when the Blue Devils led the nation in fielding (.978).

Florida State
The 2010 College World Series appearance was the 20th for FSU ... the defending ACC champion Seminoles competed in the NCAA Tournament for the 48th year, second nationally only to Texas' 54 appearances ... FSU has posted 63 consecutive winning seasons dating back to 1948 ... Seminoles' 32nd year head coach Mike Martin enters 2011 with 1,627 career wins, third-best among active NCAA Division I head coaches ... Martin's ranks first among active coaches in career winning percentage (.744) ... FSU's returning cast includes All-America senior outfielder/pitcher Mike McGee, the recipient of the 2010 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

Georgia Tech
After seeing a school-record tying 10 players taken in the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft (and nine sign contracts), the Yellow Jackets will depend on several newcomers in 2011 ... the roster includes 17 freshmen ... key returnees include junior preseason All-America infielder/catcher Matt Skole, who tied for third among ACC players and ranked 25th nationally with 20 home runs last season ... junior left-handed pitcher Jed Bradley also picked up preseason All-America honors following a 2010 season that saw him post a 9-5 record and average 9.76 strikeouts per nine innings ... Tech has appeared in 24 of the last 26 NCAA Tournaments.

Maryland
The Terps, under second-year head coach Erik Bakich, welcomed the first nationally-ranked recruiting class in school history to campus ... Maryland's 2011 roster includes 22 newcomers in what Baseball America ranked as the third-best class in the ACC ... junior shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez will again bat leadoff ... Rodriguez stole 23 bases last season, the most by a Terp since Larry Long had a school-record 33 in 1998 ... Maryland will be without veteran pitcher Brett Harman, who underwent Tommy John surgery in November ... Harman ranked 10th in the ACC with 91 strikeouts in 2010 and was the starter for all five of Maryland's ACC wins.

Miami
Miami's 38th consecutive postseason appearance in 2010 extended what was already an NCAA record ... senior outfielder Chris Pelaez is the leading returning hitter from a year ago, ending the season with a .314 mark ... also returning is junior outfielder Nathan Melendres, who finished the 2010 season at .301 ... Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America third baseman junior Harold Martinez led the team and tied for the ACC lead in home runs with 21 a season ago ... sophomores Stephen Perez and Zeke DeVoss are back for the Hurricanes ... each posted a team-high tying 24 stolen bases in their rookie campaigns.

North Carolina
The Tar Heels made their 25th overall NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010 and a school-record ninth straight ... it marked the 12th time in 13 seasons that UNC had been part of the NCAA Tournament field ... 2011 preseason All-America shortstop Levi Michael is coming off a stellar sophomore campaign that saw him lead the Tar Heels in nearly every offensive category ... Michael started all 60 games a year ago, mostly at third base, and led the Tar Heels with a .346 average and 76 runs scored ... North Carolina opens its season with four games on the West Coast, including Friday's season opener against Cal-Poly.

NC State
The 2010 season saw the Wolfpack appear in the NCAA Tournament for the 23rd time overall and the seventh time in eight years ... NC State returns six starting position players, including junior first baseman Harold Riggins ... Riggins was named MVP of the 2010 ACC Championship after batting .562 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, five intentional walks and five RBIs in the Wolfpack's four tournament games ... Riggins closed last season on a tear, hitting .370 with eight doubles, 11 home runs and 36 RBIs in his last 34 games ... the Wolfpack opens the season with a three-game weekend in series (home-away-home) against in-state opponent Elon.

Virginia
The Cavaliers have won 100 games over the past two seasons, including a school-record 51 in 2010 ... Virginia is one of 14 Division I baseball programs to reach the NCAA Tournament each of the last seven seasons ... 2010 ACC Pitcher of the Year and 2009 ACC Rookie of the Year Danny Hultzen owns a 20-2 record and 2.50 career ERA over his first two seasons ... Hultzen earned 2010 first-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and was named a 2011 first-team preseason All-American by several publications ... eighth-year head coach Brian O'Connor's .728 career winning percentage ranks fourth nationally among active coaches.

Virginia Tech
2010 saw the Hokies return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000 and the ninth time overall ... finishing at 40-22, Tech posted its first 40-win season since winning 42 games in 1999, and the seventh season with 40 or more wins in school history ... Tech will open its second straight season in the Caravelle Resort Tournament at Conway, S.C. ... this will mark the fourth time the Hokies have played at a tournament at this location ... though Tech was hit hard by the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft (eight players selected), returning second baseman Michael Seaborn and shortstop Tim Smalling have a combined 306 career starts.

Wake Forest
Head baseball coach Tom Walter donated one of his kidneys to freshman player Kevin Jordan on Feb. 7 ... Jordan was diagnosed with ANCA vasculitis in April, 2010 ... doctors tested members of Jordan's family and did not find an ideal match ... Walter volunteered to undergo testing, was found to be a good match and decided to donate his kidney to Jordan ... Wake returns its top two hitters from the 2010 squad in sophomore first baseman Matt Conway and senior center fielder Steven Brooks ... Conway led the team last season with a .382 average, while Brooks hit .349 ... Conway was named a second-team Freshman All-American by Ping!Baseball.
