TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A seven-run fourth inning fueled the Florida State (47-15) offense Friday night as the Seminoles defeated Stanford (41-17) 17-1 in game one the 2012 Tallahassee Super Regional in front of an outstanding crowd of 4,067 on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.
With Stanford holding a 1-0 lead through the first 3.5 innings, Florida State broke the game open scoring all 17 runs over the next four innings including 10 runs on two outs as the Seminoles won game one of the Super Regional for just the fourth time in 12 all-time appearances.
Devon Travis paced the Seminole offense on Friday night driving in a career-high six runs, while recording his first multi-home run game of his career. The junior second baseman went 3-for-5 with a single and two home runs. He connected on a two-run shot in the sixth and added a three-run home run in the seventh. Travis was also hit by a pitch and tied a career-high with three runs scored.
James Ramsey also registered three hits in the win as the senior captain collected two singles and a double. He finished with two RBI and two runs scored.
