CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team scored six runs in the fifth inning en route to a 7-4 win against Holy Cross Thursday in the 2010 home opener at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field.
The Eagles had six hits in the fifth inning and six consecutive batters reached base as the Eagles batted around the order.
Senior Robbie Anston led BC (8-12) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. He also stole two bases. Junior Mickey Wiswall had a 2-for-4 day and classmate Garret Smith drove in two runs with a double in the fifth.
The Eagles' bullpen shut out Holy Cross for four innings after gaining the lead in the fifth. Junior Dave Laufer picked up his first win of the season after pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless ball. Freshman Hunter Gordon and junior Nate Bayuk threw 1.1 and 1.0 innings, respectively, and junior Kevin Moran closed out the game with his first save of the season.
