Virginia's Zach Gates and Catherine White named ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia’s Zach Gates and Catherine White have been selected as the ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week following their competition this past weekend.

Gates, running in his first race for Virginia since transferring from William and Mary, finished fourth overall, leading the Cavaliers to a third-place finish in Saturday’s Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. The Fishers, Ind., native ran the 8K course in 24:21.5 and helped Virginia finish just five points behind No. 22 Arkansas and nine points ahead of No. 21 Michigan.

White, competing in her first cross country meet since 2009 due to injury, placed second overall individually, leading the Cavaliers to a third-place finish in Saturday’s Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. A graduate student from Roanoke, Va., White finished the 5K race in 17:34.7 and paced a quartet of Virginia runners that finished in the Top 20 individually.
