Clemson's Ty McCormack fared well in his first collegiate 8k race, finishing third individually at the Clemson Invitational on Friday, posting a time of 24:55.22 at Musser Farms course.
In Sunday's Mountain Dew Invitation in Gainesville, Fla., Miami freshman Conner Adams placed 14th in a field of 201 competitors. The Flower Mound, Texas, freshman's time of 25:45.40 was good enough to lead the Hurricanes to a fifth-place finish in a 19-team field.
With a sixth-place finish, Maryland sophomore Julie Fricke led the Terps to the team title in Saturday's Salty Dog Invitational in Annapolis, Md. Fricke ran the 6-kilometer course in 22:51.0.
Clemson's Kim Ruck captured individual honors by 51 seconds and led Clemson to the team title at Saturday's Clemson Invitational. The Greer, S.C., junior turned in a personal best 5k time of 16:47.09 in earning her second career individual victory.
In her first collegiate race at the Wolfpack Invitational, Laura Hoerr, a true freshman from Asheville, N.C., not only set a 5k course record for the Wake Med course, she also won the women's race by 29.5 seconds.
Miami freshman Brooke Dovell led the Hurricanes by placing 10th in a field of 208 competitors at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., with a time of 17:56.1. Dovell led the team to a sixth-place finish among 22 collegiate teams.
