NC State's Sandy Roberts Earns Men's Cross Country Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Sandy Roberts was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Clemson's Kim Ruck and NC State's Laura Hoer share this week's Women's Cross Country honors.

In his first race for NC State after transferring from Georgetown, Roberts edged out a close pack at the end to win the individual championship at the Wolfpack Invitational. The Raleigh, N.C., native finished the 5k course in 15:11.4, edging out teammate Brian Himelright by three-tenths of second.

Ruck captured individual honors and led Clemson to the team title at the Clemson Invitational. The Greer, S.C., junior turned in a personal best 5k time of 16:47.09 in earning her second career individual victory. In her collegiate race, Hoer, a true freshman from Asheville, N.C., not only set a 5k course record for the Wake Med course, she also won the women's race by 29.5 seconds.
