GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ten All-Conference honorees including five All-Americans, secured spots on the 2010 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Cross Country Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Florida State's Jennifer Dunn was selected as the 2010 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Women's Cross Country. Dunn was instrumental in the Seminoles' national runner-up finish at this past year's NCAA National Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., finishing 33rd overall and missing All-America honors by one-tenth of a second. A junior Dietetics major, the Decatur, Ala., native was also an NCAA All-South Region selection with a ninth-place finish at the South Regional.
All-ACC Academic team members who earned All-ACC honors this past fall are Boston College's Caroline King and Jillian King, Duke's Juliet Bottorff and Madeline Morgan, Florida State's Pasca Cheruiyot and Pilar McShine, Virginia's Stephanie Garcia and Barbara Strehler, NC State's Laura Hoer and Wake Forest's Anna Nosenko.
NC State's Laura Hoer, the 2010 ACC individual champion, heads the list of five ACC All-Americans named to the academic team. In addition to Hoer, other All-Americans are Boston College's Caroline King and Florida State's McShine, Cheruiyot and Jessica Parry.
Duke's Emily Schwitzer and Virginia's Stephanie Garcia each earned a berth on the league's honor team for a fourth time in their careers.
