2011 All-ACC Academic Women's Cross Country Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seventeen All-NCAA Regional honorees, including 10 All-ACC performers and two All-Americans, secured spots on the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women’s Cross Country Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Florida State’s Hannah Brooks was selected as the 2011 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Women’s Cross Country. Brooks was instrumental in leading the Seminoles to the 2011 ACC and South Regional Championships and a fourth-place finish at this past year’s NCAA National Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., finishing 20th overall and earning All-America honors. A senior majoring in Sport Psychology, the Catheram, England native earned NCAA All-South Region honors finishing second out of a field of 191 runners. Brooks and teammate Amanda Winslow earned USTFCCCA All-American honors for their performances at the NCAA Championship meet.

In addition to Brooks, All-ACC Academic team members who earned All-ACC honors this past fall are Duke’s Madeline Morgan, Florida State’s Jessica Parry, Kayleigh Tyerman and Amanda Winslow, Maryland’s Julie Fricke, NC State’s Andrea Cozzarelli and Joanna Thompson, Virginia’s Barbara Strehler and Wake Forest’s Nicole Irving,

Clemson’s Kim Ruck was named to the league’s academic honor team for the fourth time in her career, while Florida State’s Jessica Parry and Amanda Winslow, North Carolina’s Mariana Lucena, Duke’s Madeline Morgan were named for the third time.
