GREENSBORO, N.C.--Clemson senior Xavier Tromp was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week and Boston College junior Caroline King became the first Eagle since Boston College joined the conference to earn Women's Performer of the Week accolades, announced today. Tromp set a school record and King posted a pair of national top-10 times in meets last week.
Tromp set a school record with a 17-foot, 11-inch jump in the pole vault, besting the field of eight at the Yellow Jacket Invitational (Mar. 26-27). The Lingolsheim, France, native's mark is the top performance in NCAA Division I this season.
King ran to sixth and ninth-place finishes in the 800 and 1,500-meter run, respectively, at the Stanford Invitational (Mar. 26-27). Her 2:07.49 in the 800 ranks second in the conference, while her 1,500 time of 4:21.65--the second fastest in school history--tops the league, and both times rank eighth nationally.
ACC outdoor track & field action continues this Friday-Saturday, April 2-3, as all 12 schools will be in action. Duke, North Carolina, and NC State will compete in the triangle at the Duke Invitational, while the Florida Relays will host several league teams, including the Boston College men, Clemson, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.
The ACC will announce the Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week by 5 p.m. each Tuesday during the regular season. All ACC outdoor track & field information can be found at theACC.com.
