GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech freshman Victoria von Eynatten has been named the ACC Indoor Track & Field Women’s Performer of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. North Carolina senior Parker Smith was named the ACC Men’s Performer of the Week for his performance at the Gene Anderson Invitational.
von Eynatten won the pole vault with an indoor personal best and NCAA automatic-qualifying height of 14 feet, four inches at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Her mark also reset her own school record, set earlier this season, and ranks tied for third in Division I. The Leinfelden, Germany, native is the third Hokie and 13th ACC athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship to be held March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho.
Smith posted a height of 17 feet, 7.75 inches to take home the pole vault title at the Gene Anderson Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The mark ranks first in the ACC this season and 13th in Division I for the native of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
The ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, Mass., get started this Thursday, Feb. 23, and run through Saturday, Feb. 25.
