GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships will kick off Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston, Mass., and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 25. Live streaming coverage of the three-day event will be available on theACC.com on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m.
Boston College will host the event for the first time ever. Host institutions have won the men’s championship eight times, with host Virginia Tech winning the title last year. North Carolina is the only women’s team to win the league title on its campus, having done so in 2003.
Virginia Tech enters the men’s competition as the defending champion, and Florida State has won eight of the last nine titles. Maryland leads the ACC with 26 overall in program history.
On the women’s side, third-ranked Clemson has won two consecutive titles and three overall. North Carolina’s women have won a conference-leading 15 championships.
In addition to seeking a conference title, ACC student-athletes will be in search automatic qualifying times in hopes of earning a berth to the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho.
