GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson scored a sweep of Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field weekly honors on Tuesday, as redshirt senior Spencer Adams was named the ACC Men’s Performer of the Week, while senior Brianna Rollins claimed Women’s Performer of the Week honors.
It marked the second time this season that each student-athlete has been cited.
Adams posted a national-best time of 7.59 in the 60-meter hurdles during the last weekend’s Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City. Adams, who cruised to victory in the 50-man field by a margin of .14 seconds, broke the Clemson school record he previously shared with Duane Ross (1995). The Charlotte, N.C., native’s time was the second-best in the men’s 60 hurdles in Armory Collegiate Invitational history.
Rollins, of Miami, Fla., earned the Most Outstanding Competitor Award after leading Clemson to a runner-up team finish by winning a pair of individual events. Rollins broke her own Armory Collegiate Invitational record in the 60 hurdles with a time of 7.93 in the final. The only better time in the country this season was Rollins’ NCAA record of 7.78 set three weeks ago. Rollins also established a personal best in the 200 dash final, clocking a time of 23.22 to top the field. Her time in the 200 dash ranks second in Clemson history and fourth in the NCAA so far this season.
