GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State senior Rob Holderness won two individual titles as the Seminoles topped fourth-ranked Florida and has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming & Diving Men’s Performer of the Week. His teammate, freshman Tiffany Oliver, set a school record in the 100 free en route to being named the league’s Women’s Performer of the Week.
Holderness took the top spot in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events as FSU topped then-No. 4 Florida, 184-116. His times of 53.99 in the 100 and 1:56.36 in the 200 were both NCAA ‘B’ qualifying times. The Butleigh, Somerset, England, native also swam a leg of the victorious 200 medley relay, which posted a ‘B’ time of 1:28.98.
Oliver registered a first-place finish in the 100 free with a program-best time of 49.26. She also finished second in the 50 free with a time of 22.84. Both times were NCAA ‘B’ qualifying. The Southwest Ranches, Fla., native anchored the winning 200 medley relay that posted a ‘B’ time of 1:40.89 to open the dual meet. Oliver also led off in the 400 free relay as the Seminoles clinched the event with another ‘B’ time of 3:20.21.
