GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia freshman Katie Warburg and sophomore JB Kolod have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Divers of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office. Virginia sophomore Ellen Williamson and NC State junior Zina Grogg, Co-Female Swimmers of the Week, and Virginia junior Brad Phillips, the Male Swimmer of the Week, also earned recognition.

Warburg helped the Cavaliers defeat No. 16 North Carolina on Saturday with a win on the 1-meter boards and a second-place finish on the 3-meter. Later that evening, the native of Wilton, Conn., swept the diving events against Duke and broke the school record on the 3-meter (316.05).

Kolod led the Cavalier divers this weekend, sweeping the springboard events in dual meets against North Carolina and Duke on Saturday. Against the Tar Heels, the native of Pittsburgh, Pa., broke the school record on the 3-meter with a score of 392.17. He also broke the school records on the 3-meter (418.05) and the 1-meter (369.30) later that day against the Blue Devils.

Grogg led the NC State women to a 2-1 week with wins over Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. Against the Hokies, the Moon Township, Pa., native won the 100 backstroke with an NCAA B standard time of 55.08 and touched the wall in second in the 100 butterfly. In a tri-meet with the Yellow Jackets and Florida State, Grogg won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and swam on the victorious 200 medley relay.

Williamson won the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley to clinch the victory for Virginia over rival North Carolina. The next day against Duke, the Ft. Mitchell, Ky., native won the 200 backstroke and finished second in the 100 back.

Phillips’ performance in the distance events helped the Cavaliers defeat No. 22 North Carolina on Saturday. Swimming in the 500 free, he finished in 4:24.81 to beat out the field and finished in second in the 1000 free (9:11.73). The Herndon, Va., native added victories in the 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley against Duke on Sunday.
