Seven Red Zone Scores Lead Pack Past Old Dominion

RALEIGH, N.C. - A perfect seven-for-seven performance in the red zone led the Wolfpack to a 49-22 win over Old Dominion Saturday night at Carter-Finley Stadium. Quarterbacks Ryan Finley (three TD passes) and Jalan McClendon (two TD rushes, one TD pass) combined for six of the Pack's seven scores on the night. NC State (2-1) defeated the Monarchs (1-2) for the third straight season, all by a combined score of 133-70.

13 plays, 95 yards in 5:51 - Jalan McClendon 1-yd TD run

After holding ODU to a three-and-out on the game's first drive, the Pack took their first offensive drive 95 yards in 13 plays for the first TD of the day - a Jalan McClendon 1-yard TD run on third down. On the drive, Matthew Dayes had 70 yards (32 rush, 38 receiving), and QB Ryan Finley was 4-of-5 for 52 yards.

6 plays, 72 yards in 2:39 - Jalan McClendon 3-yd TD pass to Thaddeus Moss

After ODU scored a TD on its opening possession of the second half, NC State went 72 yards in six plays. Jalan McClendon threw his first TD pass of the season - 3 yards - to freshman TE Thaddeus Moss, also his first TD reception.

• To start his NC State career, QB Ryan Finley has completed 61-of-80 (76.3%) passes for six touchdowns and no interceptions.

• Before coming in to play QB midway through the fourth quarter, back-up QB Jalan McClendon scored a touchdown on all three of his first three snaps of the game - his first career TDs. In the first half, McClendon scored a pair of rushing TDs (1 and 3 yards), and in the third quarter he threw his first career TD pass.

• After a team-high five receptions tonight, WR Stephen Louis has eight catches for 222 yards over the last two games.

The Pack has its bye week next weekend. NC State returns to action on Oct. 1, hosting Wake Forest in the first ACC contest of the season.
