Registration Underway For ACC Fan 5K, Kids Mascot Run

Dec. 6 race in Uptown Charlotte to benefit Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Registration is now underway for the ACC Fan 5K and Kids Mascot Run Benefiting Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, set for Saturday, Dec. 6, in Uptown Charlotte. The 8 a.m. race will serve as the official kickoff to the 2014 Dr Pepper Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship day’s festivities.Registration is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the race for the 5K, and $10 for the Kids Mascot Run. Participants are free to walk, jog or run as they are able throughout the race. All proceeds will benefit Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.

Participants are encouraged to register early. Those that register for the 5K race by Wednesday, Oct. 15 will be eligible to purchase tickets to the 2014 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game at a discounted price. Those that register by Monday, Nov. 17 will receive a custom school-specific 5K shirt. Participants will be able to select their favorite school at the time of registration. Children ages 3 through 9 are invited to run with the ACC’s 14 football mascots. Each child will receive a t-shirt and have breakfast with the mascots following the Kids Mascot Run. 

Race-day registration, packet pick-up and chip pick-up will take place from 7 through 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.   A post-race party will be held at Wells Fargo Plaza on South Tryon Street between East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 3rd Street. The post-race party will feature the race awards ceremony, food, beverages and live entertainment. Post-race food will be provided by Food Lion, and Dick’s Sporting Goods will provide gift certificates to overall winners and age group winners.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Uptown Charlotte has hosted a 5K race in conjunction with the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game. Fans can keep tabs on race information prior to, during and after the event on Twitter, using the hashtag #ACCFan5K.
