GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina junior midfielder Emma Bozek has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week.

Bozek scored the game-tying and game-winning goals Sunday as the Tar Heels came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit and eventually beat host and 17th-ranked Old Dominion 5-1. Bozek, a junior from Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., tied the game at 1-1 in the 44th minute when she deflected in Samantha Travers’s initial shot on a penalty corner.

Just under four minutes later, she sent a hard shot from mid-circle into the goal to give the Tar Heels a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Bozek then assisted on the third goal, sending a pass to Casey Di Nardo, whose shot made the score 3-1. Carolina would score twice more to earn a regular-season-ending win on the road.

A business major, Bozek is now leading the team in scoring (31 points on 11 goals and nine assists), despite missing three games with an injury. She has scored six goals over the past three games (two of them game-winners) and is tied for the team lead in goals with 11, as well as tied for the team lead in assists with nine.
