GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - The University of North Carolina won the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball title after defeating Duke, 3-1, in Chapel Hill.
This is the Tar Heels' (26-3, 18-1) thirteenth conference title and head coach Joe Sagula's fifth outright title since joining the program in 1990.
As the ACC Champion, North Carolina earned an automatic qualification to the 2016 NCAA Volleyball Championship. This marks the Tar Heels' seventh consecutive appearance in the tournament and 18th overall.
The Tar Heels maintained a perfect 9-0 record at home in conference play and will look to continue their streak when they host Wake Forest on Saturday for their last regular season match.
The 2016 NCAA Championship bracket will be announced on Sunday, November 27 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
