North Carolina Wins in NCAA Second Round, Joins Florida State in Sweet 16

 

North Carolina Secures Round of 16 Bid with 3-1 Win over USC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina volleyball team advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA tournament for the second time in school history by winning a school-record 19th-straight match over USC 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-15).

The Tar Heels capped undefeated season in Carmichael Arena, the second time in the past three seasons the UNC volleyball team has done so, finishing 16-0 at home this year.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 8 Florida, 3-1.

The Hurricanes (22-9, 14-4 ACC) saw their season come to an end in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, falling in four sets to the host Gators. But the already tight match may have been even closer than the score indicated.
