Making the Case: ACC Football Player of the Year

We're already past Week 10 in the ACC football season, and it’s getting clearer and clearer which players might earn the top Player of the Year award.  With just a few games remaining in the season, which players will step up and take home the top honor in the conference?

Marquise Williams - QB

North Carolina

After producing a 500+ yard game against Duke, UNC QB Marquise Williams sits at the top of the list in quarterback rating and has the Tar Heels sitting pretty at the top of the Coastal Division.

Stats: 2,117 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, 7 interceptions/ 558 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns

Deshaun Watson – QB

Clemson

Clemson has clinched the Atlantic Division and remain the No. 1 team in the country, in large part due to the play of QB Deshaun Watson all year long.  He is coming off a 400+ total yard performance against FSU.

Stats: 2,233 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, 7 interceptions | 493 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns

Dalvin Cook – RB

Florida State

FSU RB Dalvin Cook has done much of the workload for the Seminoles and proved he is the best back in the conference. He is averaging 8.3 yards per carry and averaging 136 yards per game for the Noles.

Stats: 1,231 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns

Wayne Gallman – RB

Clemson

Clemson RB Wayne Gallman has been special for Clemson this season in the run game and has given the team a big lift on the offensive side of the ball.

Stats: 977 rushing yards, 8 touchdowns

Elijah Hood – RB

North Carolina

UNC RB Elijah Hood has quietly put a solid season together for the Tar Heels, and he is averaging 5.9 ypc this season. Hood also ranks second in rushing touchdowns in the ACC this season.

Stats: 813 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns

Mike Rose – DE

NC State

 

NC State Defensive end, Mike Rose, has recorded at least one sack in the last three games and is finishing the season strong, as he leads the league with 8.5 sacks.

Stats: 8.5 sacks, 31 total tackles

Trevon Young – LB

Louisville

 

Louisville Linebacker, Trevon Young, has been the hottest defensive player in the conference in the last four games, as he has recorded 8.5 sacks in that span.  If he continues to play on this level, he certainly could be in the mix.

Stats: 8.5 sacks, 26 total tackles, 1 interception

Mack Hollins – WR – North Carolina: 553 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns, 26.3 ypc
Artie Burns – DB – Miami: 5 interceptions
