Boston College defeated No. 12 Syracuse, 2-1, in an ACC match up at the Newton Soccer Field. The win gave Eagles head coach Ed Kelly his 300th career victory. He is just the 19th active coach and the third in the ACC with 300 career coaching victories. Kelly's 300 win rank 41st all-time among collegiate coaches.
Boston College is now 9-6-1 overall and 4-4-0 in the ACC. Syracuse drops to 10-4-2 and 3-4-1 in the conference.
Freshman Simon Enstrom had a goal and an assist to lead BC to a victory. It was Enstrom's seventh goal of the season.
Freshman Trevor Devock notched his 5th goal in the 24th minute.
Goalkeeper Alex Kapp finished with four saves in his third win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Boston College struck first in the 24th minute when Dylan Pritchard sent a long ball into the box. Simon Enstrom took a couple dribbles away from the defense and slid it through to Trevor Devock. The Eagles freshman forward one-timed the ball into the far post for a 1-0 BC lead.
The Eagles went up 2-0 after the Syracuse goalkeeper Hendrik Hilpert misplayed a ball about 25 yards out of goal. Trevor Devock put the initial pressure on the keeper and the ball deflected on the foot of Enstrom. He took one touch and sent the ball to the far post from 27 yards out. It was his seventh goal of the season.
Syracuse cut the lead to one goal in the 84th minute. After much pressure, Syracuse midfielder Kama Miller scored from eight yards out off a long ball into the box by Liam Callahan. Miller sent a one-timer into the near post by a diving Alex Kapp.
