1

CLEMSON

JEFF'S TAKE: I'm "All In" on the Tigers.. for now. I felt a lot better about this pick a month ago. Attrition is already hitting a defense short on experience. But how can you not dream on what Deshaun Watson and those wide receivers will do?

2

FLORIDA STATE

JEFF'S TAKE: Jimbo Fisher isn't exactly in love with his wide receivers. The offensive line isn't battle tested at all, either. Lots of questions. It's amazing the Noles may still be the best team even in a rebuilding year.

3

GEORGIA TECH

JEFF'S TAKE: Can you imagine Paul Johnson as an elementary school principal? He can. Hilarious line from PJ: "..all you have to do is make sure they got on the bus, off the bus."

4

LOUISVILLE

JEFF'S TAKE: It's not a crazy idea that Louisville will win the Atlantic. The Cards don't have more questions than Clemson or FSU, but they might be BIGGER questions--offensive line, secondary and QB.

5

VIRGINIA TECH

JEFF'S TAKE: The talent is there and the schedule--once you get past the defending national champs--is very manageable. I feel like 9-3 is realistic. Am I being too optimistic considering the past 3 years? Tweet me anytime to talk ACC football.

6

MIAMI

JEFF'S TAKE: So, Duke Johnson, Phillip Dorsett and Clive Walford are gone. Well, check out why we think Brad Kaaya can keep the offense productive. But can the defense improve? And is the schedule too tough? Canes fans may not want to hear it, but 8-4 would be a success.

7

NC STATE

JEFF'S TAKE: Not all bad news is truly bad news. The Wolfpack should be fine for 2 games without its leading rusher. The Louisville-Virginia Tech combo in early October will really let us know how good this team is.

8

PITT

JEFF'S TAKE: The 2 biggest surprises for me from Pat Narduzzi's personality quiz:
1) He was shy as a child. I find that hard to believe.
2) If he hadn't been a football coach, he'd be in the FBI. So maybe he moved into the dorms to spy on them?!!

9

NORTH CAROLINA

JEFF'S TAKE: Marquise is back. The top 4 WRs too. And veteran RBs. And the offensive line. Yes, there will be points. But can Gene Chizik save the defense? It was 119th in the FBS last year.

10

DUKE

JEFF'S TAKE: Not so long ago, Duke fans would have been happy to be ranked 10th in the pre-season. Now, it's probably an insult after 19 wins over the past 2 years. You want the Blue Devils higher? Let's see what Thomas Sirk can do first as the starting QB. Then, we'll talk.

11

VIRGINIA

JEFF'S TAKE: The nonconference schedule is brutal, starting with UCLA this Saturday. But if you're going to face the Bruins, now's the time--they're starting a true freshman at QB.

12

BOSTON COLLEGE

JEFF'S TAKE: Steve Addazio gets the most out his team, but he didn't give me a ton of confidence after the Eagles' second scrimmage. But he has Jon Hilliman, and he'll Be A Dude.

13

WAKE FOREST

JEFF'S TAKE: I was ready to jump onto the Wake bandwagon. I had them 2 spots higher at first, then 1 former player pulled me aside and said, "It's all headed in the right direction, but they're still a year away." Patience, Deacs fans. Patience.

14

SYRACUSE

JEFF'S TAKE: Don't use the LSU game in late September to judge this team. Besides, we'll know before then where Syracuse is going. If the Orange is going to get to a bowl game, it really should be 3-0 when the Bayou Bengals come to town.
