The ACC Power Poll is compiled each week by ACC Digital Network host Jeff Fischel. Give Jeff your feedback via Twitter (@JeffFischel)!
Florida State (2-0)
| Last: W 37-12 vs. OSU | Next: BYE
Jeff's Take: A costly win: 3 FSU defensive linemen suffered injuries. And an offensive lineman from The Citadel admitted his unit was going for the knees.
Virginia Tech (2-0)
| Last: W 35-21 vs. Ohio State | Next: 9/13 vs. ECU
Jeff's Take: The win over the Buckeyes was classic Beamer: Attacking defense and a physical running game. Besides, I got my fill of Ohio State tradition reading Goodbye, Columbus years ago.
| Last: W 66-21 vs. Murray State | Next: 9/13 @ UVa
Jeff's Take: Will Gardner hasn’t done anything wrong, but oooh boy, Reggie Bonnafon needs to play. By the way, L.J. Scott is just a freshman, too. Have fun, ACC defenses.
| Last: W 73-7 vs. SCST | Next: BYE
Jeff's Take: 2 weeks to get ready for Florida State. Well, 3 weeks if you want to count the game vs SC State on Saturday. It’s all fair. FSU has the same scenario: FCS team and a bye week.
| Last: W 34-17 vs. Troy | Next: 9/13 vs. Kansas
Jeff's Take: No complaints about the win over Troy. Isaac Blakeney is doing an excellent Braxton Deaver impersonation. Kansas-Duke has me thinking about a different sport….
| Last: W 30-20 vs. Boston College | Next: 9/13 @ FIU
Jeff's Take: When Chryst arrived, the hope was always that he could build dominant O-Lines the way he did at Wisconsin. It looks like it’s happening. And Conner is the perfect back for it.
| Last: W 41-13 vs. Florida A&M | Next: 9/13 vs. Arkansas State
Jeff's Take: This Canes season will come down to a true freshman QB’s learning curve. That’s a lot of pressure on Kaaya, but he took some baby steps against FAMU.
| Last: W 45-13 vs. Richmond | Next: 9/13 vs. Louisville
Jeff's Take: London still doesn’t really know what he has at QB. That’s a problem when you’re about to face Lorenzo Mauldin & Louisville. For me, it’s the most intriguing matchup of the week.
Georgia Tech (2-0)
| Last: W 38-21 vs. Tulane | Next: 9/13 vs. Ga. Southern
Jeff's Take: For the second straight week, it was ugly at first and then it was pretty. Jackets, you might want to put 2 solid halves together vs Georgia Southern, because next week you’re in Blacksburg.
North Carolina (2-0)
| Last: W 31-27 vs. SDSU | Next: BYE
Jeff's Take: I want to like this team, but the Tar Heels needed some 2nd half heroics to beat San Diego State at home. And that’s after some struggles against Liberty, too.
NC State (2-0)
| Last: W 46-34 vs. ODU | Next: 9/13 @ South Florida
Jeff's Take: 2-0 is 2-0. So there’s that. Jacoby Brissett, Matt Dayes and Shadrach Thornton helped the Pack put up 46 on ODU, and they’re outscoring opponents 49-19 in the 2nd half.
Boston College (1-1)
| Last: L 30-20 vs. Pitt | Next: 9/5 vs. USC
Jeff's Take: Tyler Murphy ran and threw for 100+ vs Pitt, but didn’t get enough help on offense. The “I’m Glad That Wasn’t Me” moment: Louie Addazio jumped offside & dad was not happy.
| Last: BYE | Next: 9/13 @ Central Michigan
Jeff's Take: It was a bye week, but at least Cameron Lynch came through with another fun edition of #CamsCam. The Chippewas will be a problem.
Wake Forest (1-1)
| Last: W 23-7 vs. Gardner-Webb | Next: 9/13 @ USU
Jeff's Take: After a couple of early mistakes, John Wolford looked very good against Gardner Webb. Winning at Utah State would really be a nice step forward.
