Jeff Fischel's ACC Power Poll: Week of Nov. 23, 2015

The ACC Power Poll is compiled each week by ACC Digital Network host Jeff Fischel. Give Jeff your feedback via Twitter (@JeffFischel)!

Previous Weeks: Preseason | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8 | Week 9 | Week 10 | Week 11

CLEMSON (8-0 ACC | 11-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The final score vs Wake Forest didn't scream, "Blow out!!" But the Tigers went up 20-0 in the first quarter, and clearly put it in cruise control after that. The big question is whether wins over the 2 Carolinas the next 2 weeks would be enough to keep Alabama at 2. I think it should.

NORTH CAROLINA (7-0 ACC | 10-1 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: My Twitter timeline on Sunday was inundated with Tar Heel fans wanting more respect in the rankings. But I think UNC is about where it should be. Between the loss to Baja Carolina and 2 wins over FCS schools, the OOC schedule didn't help one bit. Probably would've helped, too, to put away Virginia Tech instead of letting the Hokies back in with 3 minutes left.

FLORIDA STATE (6-2 ACC | 9-2 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Do I think FSU is better than Florida? Yes. But the offensive numbers on the road have been brutal. Look. And this one is in Gainesville. If the Noles win, I think they'll end up in the Peach Bowl.

PITT (6-1 ACC | 8-3 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Nate Peterman was all over the highlights. Ejuan Price's day might've been even better. In fact, it's hard to imagine anyone had a better Saturday than Price. Well, maybe that Clemson player who got engaged on the field but that's about it. By the way, I'd have Pitt in my Top 25. Only 3 losses are to Iowa, Notre Dame and North Carolina.

LOUISVILLE (5-3 ACC | 6-5 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Louisville vs Kentucky is like a presidential election; will the state turn red or blue? The Cardinals aren't giving their fans a ton of confidence these days, but the Wildcats have lost 5 of 6. I still like UofL in this one, just like always with Bobby Petrino on the Louisville sidelines.

NC STATE (3-4 ACC | 7-4 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: I had one fan write me to make the argument that NC St.-UNC is always a bigger deal to State. Even though the Tar Heels are 10-1, I think it's still true this year. The Pack wants to slow the Tar Heels' roll, for sure, and also prove the program has taken another step forward. Last year, they went 7-5. 8-4 in 2015 with a signature win would show progress.

MIAMI (4-3 ACC | 7-4 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: I said before the season that 8-4 would be a solid year for Miami. And with a win Saturday, the Canes would finish… 8-4. But yikes, this has been a much more turbulent season than "performing to expectations" would imply.

VIRGINIA TECH (3-4 ACC | 5-6 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Metallica offered kind words. Fans chanted. Buzz Williams wore a Frank Beamer shirt. The players carried him off. All that was missing was the win. Now, he really needs to finish in style. Beat in-commonwealth rival, UVA, to earn 1 last bowl bid.

VIRGINIA (3-4 ACC | 4-7 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Virginia won't make Beamer's farewell easy because the Hoos are playing well. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but.. I will. UVA is 4-7. If they'd played 2 more cupcakes instead of UCLA and Boise State, they'd be going to a bowl game and feel a lot better about the state of the program.

DUKE (3-4 ACC | 6-5 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Opponents have completely solved Duke's defensive game plan. In Duke's 5-1 start, the defense allowed 11 points per game. In the Blue Devils' last 5, in which they've gone 1-4, they've given up 42 points a game.

WAKE FOREST (1-6 ACC | 3-8 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Dave Clawson is upgrading the talent level across the board. Another sign of that comes Saturday when some redshirt juniors are given a fond farewell. There are steps you take to success that are painful but necessary.

BOSTON COLLEGE (0-7 ACC | 3-8 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: It's crazy to think 1 team can have the best defense and worst offense in the FBS. True to form, the D did its job against Notre Dame at Fenway Park. That was a Notre Dame home game, but BC should figure out how to do that every year. Great vibe.

GEORGIA TECH (1-7 ACC | 3-8 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Another week, another drop in the Power Poll. The team that was supposed to win the Coastal is dead last. There's one last glimmer of hope in 2015: Georgia has been just as disappointing. A Yellow Jackets win over the Dawgs would make 4-8 feel about as good as possible.

SYRACUSE (1-6 ACC | 3-8 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Orange and Eagles won't be playing for anything on Saturday. It's a rare thing for both to miss bowl games in the same season. Since 1982, it's happened only twice: 2011 and now in 2015.
