Jeff Fischel's ACC Power Poll: Week of Sept. 14, 2015

The ACC Power Poll is compiled each week by ACC Digital Network host Jeff Fischel. Give Jeff your feedback via Twitter (@JeffFischel)!

GEORGIA TECH (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Yellow Jackets have forced me to make a change at the top, outscoring opponents 134-16 in 2 games. Will mighty Notre Dame fare any better? Warning for opponents: When Justin Thomas is doing things like this, just pack your bags and go home.

CLEMSON (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Tigers get demoted through no fault of their own. GT's been that good. We all know Deshaun Watson is athletic and accurate. Apparently, he can throw it a country mile, too. With Louisville's 0-2 start, Thursday night has lost some lustre. But it would still be a quality win for the Tigers.

FLORIDA STATE (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: When's the last time the Noles would've been 3rd in anyone's ACC rankings? And, the truth is, they've played well in 3 of the 4 halves they've played so far. Dalvin Cook changes the ceiling for this team--into a playoff contender. He was phenomenal Saturday.

NC STATE (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Jacoby Brissett is completing passes like he's Steph Curry shooting free throws. Brissett has completed 84% so far. And this week, the offense gets better because Shadrach Thornton comes back.. although Samuels and Dayes have been awesome without him.

MIAMI (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Yearby. Yearby. Yearby. Can't you see? Sometimes your moves just hypnotize me. Forgive me for stating the obvious: A win over Nebraska would be an important sign that this program is returning to national prominence.

VIRGINIA TECH (0-0 ACC | 1-1 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Against Furman, Brenden Motley showed us he just might be able to handle this job while Michael Brewer is hurt. Not every football debut goes so well.

DUKE (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Blue Devils are reaping early rewards from David Cutcliffe's QB apprentice program. Thomas Sirk--after seeing red zone opportunities last year--looks perfectly comfortable as the starter. We'll know more this week when they take on #23 Northwestern. Duke holds an early lead thanks to SAT scores and GPA.

NORTH CAROLINA (0-0 ACC | 1-1 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Tar Heels jump Pitt, but mostly because of Pitt. South Carolina showed this past Saturday that it ain't all that. (I only use “ain't” colloquially.) And beating North Carolina A&T, while decisive, won't prove anything to anyone. I'm still on the fence when it comes to UNC.

PITT (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Losing James Conner is hard enough. But it looks more and more like Pat Narduzzi has a QB controversy. Tyler Boyd can't be a game-changer if someone can't consistently get him the ball in space.

VIRGINIA (0-0 ACC | 0-2 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: The Cavaliers deserve credit not only for scheduling the way we all want to see our teams schedule, but for taking Notre Dame to the brink. It was a heartbreaker. But hopefully, the Hoos see how it made them better.

LOUISVILLE (0-0 ACC | 0-2 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Mistakes have turned 2-0 into 0-2. As Mark Ennis put it so perfectly to me, Cards fans need a big glass of Alka Seltzer because there's already been so much heartache and it's still not clear who the QB is. And now, with Clemson next, the Cards could be staring at 0-3--and still not know who the QB is.

SYRACUSE (1-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: Can you believe the Orange can start 3-0 for the first time since 1991?! Scott Shafer and Tim Lester don't want to ask Eric Dungey to do too much. But, with composure like this, they'll crack the playbook open a little more this week.

BOSTON COLLEGE (0-0 ACC | 2-0 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: If you think BC might be overmatched Friday night vs Florida State, you clearly forgot what happened in last year's nationally televised prime time game against another top 10 team on the third Saturday of the season.

WAKE FOREST (0-1 ACC | 1-1 OVERALL)

JEFF'S TAKE: I felt like the Deacs had to beat Syracuse to get to a bowl game. And they looked good early. But let's not worry too much about the past or the distant future. In the present, Wake has a good chance to go to 2-1.
