Jeff Fischel's ACC Power Poll: Week of March 2, 2015
The ACC Power Poll is compiled each week by ACC Digital Network host Jeff Fischel. Give Jeff your feedback via Twitter (@JeffFischel)!
DUKE (13-3 ACC | 26-3 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Have I mentioned that I used to really like Ben Harper’s ‘Jah Work” off the “Will to Live” album? I’m a big fan of Jah Okafor’s work so far this year, too.
Last: 2 ---
VIRGINIA (15-1 ACC | 27-1 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Justin Anderson has now missed 6 games. The Cavaliers are 6-0. I don’t say this to worry anyone in Hooville, but despite the wins, the offensive efficiency is clearly down without him.
Last: 3 ---
NOTRE DAME (12-4 ACC | 24-5 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: The Irish have a double bye wrapped up in Greensboro. They could be the 2, 3 or 4 seed.
Last: 5 1
LOUISVILLE (11-5 ACC | 23-6 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: The Cards have Notre Dame and Virginia this week, so predicting their record and Greensboro seed feels futile. But so far, the Quentin Snider Era is off to a 2-0 start.
NORTH CAROLINA (10-6 ACC | 20-9 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Tar Heel fans got in my grill for keeping Paige, Johnson & Meeks out of the top 15 in my Top 30 ACC players list. I just can’t justify it right now. But they’re all 16-30… so it’s not like I’m ignoring them.
Last: 6 ---
PITT (8-8 ACC | 19-11 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: The Panthers just made their lives much more difficult by coughing up a 2nd-half lead at Wake Forest. I think they have to beat Miami & FSU for sure just to stay on the bubble.
Last: 8 ---
NC STATE (8-8 ACC | 17-12OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Classic NC State Stuff: Beat UNC in Chapel Hill, then lose at Boston College. I truly have no idea what will happen to this team this week against Clemson & Syracuse.
Last: 8 ---
SYRACUSE (9-7 ACC | 18-11 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: No Syracuse fan will have fond memories of this year, but Boeheim has done a really good job. Somehow, with only 2 reliable options on offense and a shaky freshman PG, the Orange is 18-11.
MIAMI (8-8 ACC | 18-11 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: It’s right there for you, Canes. Let’s see what you can do.
Last: 9 1
CLEMSON (8-8 ACC | 16-12 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: I elect Damarcus Harrison as the Tigers’ designated 3-point shooter. It’s in the team’s best interest if he’s the only guy to take 3s. Roper & Hall can have a hall pass or 2. But that’s it.
Last: 11 ---
FLORIDA STATE (7-10 ACC | 15-15 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Give you one guess who the most efficient offensive player is in the Noles’ regular rotation? Well? We’re waiting…. Answer: Boris Bojanovsky. I know.. that surprised me too.
Last: 12 ---
WAKE FOREST (5-11 ACC | 13-16 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: On Greek Night, The Greek Deac, Dinos Mitoglou, hit a clutch 3 pointer to beat Pitt. Yes, the planets were aligned.
Last: 14 1
GEORGIA TECH (3-14 ACC | 12-17 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: Just another heartbreaking week for the Yellow Jackets. They’re 0-3 in OT games. They have 6 losses by 1-2 points. And 8 losses by 3-7 points.
Last: 15 1
BOSTON COLLEGE (2-14 ACC | 10-18 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: If you know NC State’s history after beating Duke & UNC, you knew BC had a chance. And the Eagles played a great game. Plus, it shined a light on how good Olivier Hanlan has been, and why he deserves some All-ACC consideration.
Last: 13 2
VIRGINIA TECH (2-14 ACC | 10-19 OVERALL)
JEFF'S TAKE: I was just asked about a timeline for Buzz's turnaround in Blacksburg. I really think 2017 is the year we see the Hokies make the NIT.. at least.
